You know, I was thinking the very same thing, only worse.

When I did wedding photography I swore to NEVER photograph friend's 
weddings, especially as the only professional photographer. Why risk the 
friendship? Better to give a portrait of the couple AND a great referral 
for the wedding photographer, that's how I looked at it.

That, and as a truly working professional I could never enjoy the 
wedding anyway. My friends always appreciated a good referral.
