It's a 1952 film noir classic police drama directed by Nicolas Ray, best known for "Rebel Without a Cause". Produced by Professor Kingsfield himself, John Houseman. Starring Robert Ryan and Ida Lupino. Score by Bernard Hermann, who did the great music in Alfred Hitchcock movies.
This is part of a series inspired by the writing of critic Mannny Farber, who wrote about ths one: "The story is told with a camera and a rather unorthodox one...the chief virtue of the film is the fascinating jumble of action that result when two determined characters Ryan and Bon try to outclaw each other at the job of detective"
First we''lll have dinner nearby, then we'll catch the movie.
